Abstract

The authors will (1) present recent epidemiological data on Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD), (2) highlight the clinical hallmarks of the disorder, (3) discuss the questions still in dispute and (4) indicate links to animal models of OCD. The links of OCD with animal models deal most often with stereotypies (SS), which may be pharmacologically induced (PIS) or conflict induced (CIS). OCD and SS share some similarities but the evidence that they are one and the same phenomenon is still lacking. |
