Abstract

Germination success of seeds of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Limburg was studied as a function of the time of onset of imbibition. Mean radicle length and mean radicle weight after 48 h germination in darkness varied regulary with a period length of approximately 6 hours, revealing ultradian rhythmicity. A long-term study covering 20 months showed an underlying circannual rhythmic component. |
