Abstract

The purpose of this contribution is to initiate further debate on Bitcoins from a legal perspective. The contribution predominantly relates to money law and regulatory law. In the regulatory analysis a distinction is made between product-, market- and distribution regulation on the one hand, in which both derivates on Bitcoins and Bitcoins are considered, and the regulation relating to payment services and electronic money on the other hand. |
