Abstract

| The main purpose of this ICD Brief1 is to identify and briefly discuss the different constituent elements of the legal notion of torture, by analysing a handful of (inter)national definitions as well as relevant international jurisprudence and legal doctrine. The question that will be asked in the end will be whether the current definition(s) suffice(s) or whether torture warrants a re-definition. |
