Abstract

Worldwide, infants under the age of 5 months, too young to be protected by the current infant vaccination programs, are most vulnerable to severe pertussis. On top of the cocoon strategy, vaccinating women between 20 and 32 weeks of pregnancy, increases the amount of maternal antibodies, which help to protect the newborns during those first months of life. In this study, the safety data of a joint prospective on-going study in Vietnam and Belgium on Tdap vaccination of pregnant women are presented |
