Title
Electron microscopy investigation and Mossbauer properties in new LaBaFe0.5Zn0.5MnO6-delta perovskite compound
Author
Abstract
The perovskite oxide of the formula LaBaFe0.5Zn0.5MnO6-delta has been prepared by sol-gel process and has been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction, Electron diffraction, High-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy images (HAADF-STEM), annular bright-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (ABF-STEM) and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction data show that this compound crystallizes in the cubic system with Pm-3m space group. Moreover, the electron diffraction along the [1 0 0] and [1 1 0] directions confirm the cubic structure in Pm-3m space group with cell parameter a = 3.93 angstrom. Iron, zinc and manganese are totally located in octahedral environments. The Mossbauer measurement carried out at room temperature and 77 K showed a paramagnetic behavior with iron in Fe3+ high-spin state as extracted from the values of the isomer shift.
