Title
Between Marx and Kierkegaard, Benjamin : thesis on the idea of repetition in history
Author
Abstract
Building from a theoretical concern with the current state of global society, this essay focuses on reflecting upon the idea of history’s repeatability as professed by the Marxist tradition. Taking Walter Benjamin as a model and looking at Kierkegaard’s concept of repetition, the theses that follow question Marx’s thinking as presented in his 18th Brummaire. More then Marx, however, the 18 theses that form this critique are directed to a sort of common reproducibility made of the Marxist hypothesis. This way, through Benjamin, the essay seeks to conform three different philosophers, updating the idea of history’s repeatability for current day. More than a political maxim, it is important to think of Marx’s hypothesis grounding on the philosophy of history.
