Abstract

| In 2013, Jean Longère edited the first part(prologue and sermons 1-36, CCCM 255) of the sermones ad status by the popular French preacher Jacques of Vitry (+1240). Taking Longère's work as a starting point, this paper presents the edition of the last two sermons of the collection (73-74). They are adressed to the male youngsters and offer interesting insights in educational concepts and practices of the early thirteenth century. Special attention is given to the influence of Vitry's sermons on the franciscan preacher Guibert of Tournai (+1284). |
