Le projet d’une dévotion à l’échelle mondiale, l’exemple de La Josephina de Gracián de la Madre de Dios

Abstract
The Iberian expansion during the early modern period generated new opportunities for the circulation of goods and knowledge. This article proposes to retrace the editorial project of Gracián de la Madre de Dios, a Spanish Carmelite friar, eager to spread his devotional work throughout the territories of the Iberian empire. This project is a remarkable illustration of the phenomenon of distribution of Catholic cultural models intended to foster unity among the various territories under Iberian domination. Moreover, the example of the spread of a specific book, the Josephina, allows us to unveil networks and channels of distribution set up ad hoc by an author of the modern period.
