Abstract

Experienced clinicians and academics from the International MAOI (mono amine oxidase inhibitor) Expert Group comment on questions of interest concerning MAOI pharmacotherapy for depression, especially as they pertain to the illustrative case summaries presented in this part one of the Expert Roundtable Discussion. These comments focus on practical therapeutics and aspects of difficult cases that guidelines simply do not, and cannot, address, such as the important fact that psychotic depression may respond rapidly to MAOIs. The ethical and medico legal issues relating to cost and ongoing availability are also discussed. |
