Title
Covalent organic frameworks-based membranes and adsorbents for water treatment and gas separation
Author
Abstract
The development of covalent organic framework (COF)-based membranes and separation materials for selective capture of contaminants, ions, or gases has emerged as an attractive substitute to existing coordination framework technologies over the past ten years. The versatility of COF chemistry supports the development of highly stable materials, both for solvation and for thermal stress, enabling operation in complex environments. This chapter discusses the potential of COF-based materials for molecular sieving and adsorption purpose in both water and gas separation operations. The relationships between the materials’ performance and the microstructural properties are highlighted and discussed to critically reveal the applicability of these materials to critical separation applications.
