Synedra subula Sande Lac. & Suringar is rarely encountered today. Although a reasonable description was provided, the species has never been illustrated. Having discovered the type specimens in the diatom collection of the Naturalis Biodiver-sity Center in Leiden (the Netherlands), this short account presents details of some specimens using only scanning electron microscopy as no light microscope slides exist or have been prepared. |
