| The concept of paratexts (Gerard Genette) is useful for understanding the evolution and intertwining of concepts like folklore, “Volkskunde” and ethnology in general and the importance of bibliographic systems in particular, like the productions made with the classification plan of Eduard Hoffmann-Krayer. This is a component of a broader reflection on the pre-existing components of the current paradigm of heritage and heritage studies, as proposed by Anne Eriksen. This article examines the mechanisms of organizing information and their impact on the emergence of a broader canon. Throughout these processes, UNESCO played a significant role in various episodes, ranging from providing support to CIAP/SIEF to the present paradigm of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. |
