This special edition of the Asia Pacific Journal explores community-based monitoring (CBM), at the intersection of academia, practitioners, and society, aiming to strengthen monitoring and evaluation practices for the future challenges. In CBM initiatives, concerned citizens play a pivotal role in monitoring and tracking pressing issues within their communities. This active involvement is expected to empower communities and improve the delivery of essential services tailored to address community needs. While the degree of citizen participation varies across different CBM initiatives, they typically foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including academia, government agencies, industry players, and local institutions, as they tackle shared concerns such as poverty, healthcare delivery, social safety nets, and water service delivery. |
