Daily dietary total arsenic intake by adults in Belgium has been re-evaluated by duplicate portion sampling, heating of the samples in a micro-wave oven and atomic absorption spectrometric determination of the element. The mean intake value was below the 30 mug/day-detection limit of the method, except for fish-based diets. Arsenic analysis of various foodstuffs revealed that rice products, but especially fish and fish products are important sources of this element. |
