Abstract
The article presents a literary criticism focusing on the theme of death in "Delphine," by Germaine de Staël. The author places this work in the context of nineteenth century secular and religious culture. The article examines how death was experienced both by characters in the book who were dying and their surviving family, friends, and neighbors.
