Title
Children and office holding in the Roman Empire
Author
Abstract
Ancient historians rarely work on age-related accidents for children or do a survey of perilous places for young ones, simply because the number of attested cases is insufficient for statistic conclusions which could point out to certain tendencies concerning patterns in the rearing of young children, child labour or risky places for little ones. The author makes an attempt to offer a comprehensive collection of known accidents from Roman antiquity, he tries to shed a light on the professional and other activities which formed part of Roman children's daily life, finally he moves on to the discourse dealing with ancient preoccupations and anxieties and the role of children in this field.
