Title
Craniometrical comparison of 4 populations of praomys-jacksoni captured at different heights in eastern zaire (kivu)
Author
Abstract
This study was started to determine if there are biometrical differences within one species, between specimens captured at different heights. Therefore we used an extensive collection made by one of us (Dr. F. Dieterlen) between 1963-74 in eastern Zaire, at Irangi (850 m), Lwiro (1600-1800 m), Tshibati (ca. 2000 m) and Kahuzi (2300-3300 m). When comparing biometrically the specimens captured at different heights we found only small differences between the populations. The most important is the length of the auditory bulla. But the differences due to growth are more important than the differences between the four populations.
