Medical and paramedical staff from hospitals in the Antwerp area and from the Antwerp blood transfusion centre were vaccinated with the HBV vaccine (Hevac B) that was first commercialized in Belgium. The vaccinations resulted in 82% seroconversions with anti-HBs formation. Age seems to affect adversely the vaccination results, especially in people over 40 years.
